Jukka Anteroinen appointed to the Board of Directors of the John Nurminen Foundation

In the annual meeting of the John Nurminen Foundation, Jukka Anteroinen Dr. Mil. Sc, Commodore, has today been appointed as a new member of the Board. Currently, Jukka Anteroinen works as a Special Advisor to the Chief of Defence Finland. From April 2019 onwards, he will take over the post of Commander of the Coastal Fleet.

Jukka Anteroinen’s prior positions include heading the Defence Forces’ Operations Division, and leading the research and development sector of Defence Command Finland. He graduated as a naval officer in 1992. In 2013, Jukka Anteroinen defended his Ph.D. at the National Defence University. His hobbies include, amongst other things, the history of naval warfare.

At the end of 2018, John Nurminen Foundation Members of the Board Veli Sundbäck and Pertti Torstila left the Foundation. Veli Sundbäck served as a board member of the Foundation from 2009 onwards, and Pertti Torstila from 2014.

Juha Nurminen, Chairman of the Board, extends his thanks to both board members for their valuable work for the Foundation: ‘Veli Sundbäck’s role in advancing the Foundation’s Clean Baltic Sea projects has been highly significant, and he has been active also in our operative field work. Sundbäck’s input was decisive in, for example, the negotiations that led to reducing discharges from a fertilizer factory to the Gulf of Finland Pertti Torstila brought his solid expertise in foreign policy and diplomacy to the Foundation’s operations. His keen observations and recommendations on societal impact were of great benefit to the Foundation.

Current board members who continue with the Board are Eeva Ahdekivi, DBA, Juho Lipsanen, M.Sc. (Econ.), maritime counsellor Juha Nurminen (Chair), Kaisa Olkkonen, LL.M., Markku Ollikainen, professor, Per-Edvin Persson, professor, Marja-Leena Rinkineva, LL.M. (with court training), eMBA, and Hannu Syrjänen, M.Sc. (Econ.), (vice chair).

John Nurminen Foundation – Baltic Sea protection and marine culture
Founded in 1992, the purpose of the John Nurminen Foundation is to save the Baltic Sea and its heritage to future generations. The Foundation has been awarded for its work as a communicator of information and producer of marine content.
The goal of the Foundation’s Clean Baltic Sea projects is to improve the condition of the Baltic Sea with tangible measures that will reduce the load and environmental risks directed at the sea. Our work is steered by measurable results and impact.
