Kaisa Olkkonen and Marja-Leena Rinkineva appointed members of the John Nurminen Foundation Board

Two new members have been appointed to the Board of the John Nurminen Foundation as of 1 January 2017: Kaisa Olkkonen, Master of Laws, and Marja-Leena Rinkineva, Master of Laws (with court training), eMBA.

Kaisa Olkkonen (b. 1964) was employed by Nokia in 1998 – 2016 in several specialist and management positions in international business law and corporate relations. She is highly experienced in demanding high-level negotiations in the EU and in other forums. Since 2016, she has been working in specialist and Board duties. She served as the Chairman of the Board of SSH Communications Security Corporation in 2016 and was appointed CEO of the company on 1 January 2017. She is also a Board member of Cargotec Oyj and Enfo Oy.

Marja-Leena Rinkineva (b.1964) has, since autumn 2011, been the Director of Economic Development of the City of Helsinki. In this role, she is responsible for the city’s economic and innovations policy, and for immigration and employment matters and international affairs. She has accumulated extensive and long-standing experience in economic development tasks during her employment in the Ministry of Employment and the Economy in 2008 – 2011 and in the Ministry of Trade and Industry in 1996 – 2007. She is a Board member in several organisations, such as the Smart & Clean Foundation, and the support association and support foundation of the New Children’s Hospital.

The long-standing member and Vice Chairman of the Board, Jouko Lönnqvist, Professor Emeritus, resigned from the Board of Directors in the last meeting held in 2016. Juha Nurminen, Chairman of the Board of Directors, would like to thank Jouko Lönnqvist for his valuable input in the Board of Directors of John Nurminen Foundation. Jouko Lönnqvist was appointed to the Foundation’s Board of Directors in 2004, and since the beginning he has played a key role in the development of the policies, strategies and management of the Foundation.

Board members Eeva Ahdekivi, Juhani Kaskeala, Juha Nurminen (Chairman), Per-Edvin Persson, Veli Sundbäck, Hannu Syrjänen and Pertti Torstila will continue in their positions.

The John Nurminen Foundation, established in 1992, works for the Baltic Sea and its marine cultural heritage in way that makes an impact and brings results.
