Nokia and John Nurminen Foundation have agreed on 2-year co-operation regarding Clean Baltic Sea projects. With the agreement, the co-operation started in 2005 will continue during 2011 – 2012. Nokia has had a major role for the success of the Clean Baltic Sea projects from the beginning. John Nurminen Foundation first project within marine protection, bringing chemical phosphorus removal to the three largest wastewater treatment plants of St. Petersburg, was kicked off in 2004.

A great number of our employees, partners and customers live and work in Finland and in other countries around the Baltic Sea,” says Kirsi Sormunen, Vice President, Sustainability, Nokia.

Over the years, a number of companies and private citizens have supported John Nurminen Foundation’s Clean Baltic Sea projects. In addition to Nokia, the main partners of the Foundation are Capgemini, Fortum, Sanoma, Onninen, Finnish Ministry of Environment, EU Baltic Sea Region Programme, and Finnish Traffic Agency.
